Choosing between these two MTN prepared plans are sometimes hard to make instead we always find ourselves constantly switching to either plan. Most people believe in MTN Beta Talk as a result of the recharge bonus it gives.
That is an evidence of Awoof! On the other hand, some people prefer MTN Pulse as a result of its off day data bonus. In this article, i have explained what both offer, their benefits, differences and more. Now it is MTN Pulse vs Beta Talk!
MTN Pulse
MTN Pulse is a prepaid tariff plan that allows you as an MTN customer to enjoy flat rate of 11kobo/sec for calls across other local networks (Glo, Airtel, Etisalat) in Nigeria after spending N10 after the first call in a day.
This means that you would be charged 20K/sec on your first call for the day until it reaches N10 (i.e N10 for 50secs.) before you continue to enjoy a flat rate at 11k/sec.

Which of these is convenient for making calls?
Since MTN Pulse charges 20k/sec (N10) for the first 50 seconds and 11k/sec daily flat rates and Beta Talk gives a 200% recharge bonus at the same time charges 40k/sec daily flat rate which is N24 per minute.
How do you determine the cheapest call rate?
MTN Pulse
50 seconds charged at N10. For the first daily call you make, you will be charged N10 for the first 50 seconds. The remaining 10 seconds will be charged at 11k/second which is N1.1 for 10 seconds. Now, your first minute of the day costs N10 + N1.1 = N11.1.
Lets take for instance, you recharged N100,
1 minute = N11.1
Remaining = N100 – N11.1 = N88.9. After your first minute for the day, your remaing balance becomes N88.9.
Now that you have N88.9, lets calculate how many minutes it will take us. Remember, 11K/s is equivalent to N6.6 per minute. This involves small arithmetics.
N6.6 – 1 minute
N86.9 – ? minutes
we do small cross multiplying
86.9 x 1/6.6 = 13 minutes and few seconds.
Adding our initial call + later == 1 minute + 13 minute = 14 minutes and few seconds.
N100 lets us make calls at least 14 minutes.
MTN Beta Talk
There is a flat rate of 40k/seconds which is N24 for every minute. Now lets assume wey recharged N100 and got extra N200 making it total N300.
N24 – 1 minute
N300 – ? minutes
we also do small cross multiplying here.
300 x 1/24 = 12 minutes and few seconds.
N100 plus extra N200 credit bonus lets us make calls at least 12 minutes. Do not be surprised anyway.
There is a 1 minute difference between MTN Pulse and Better Talk. If you also consider their benefits, then you should tell yourself which is the KING.
